Report: Crab Orchard spent $7,341 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Crab Orchard Community Unit School District 3 is down 8.2 percent from five years ago, according to a Carbondale Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Williamson County school district spent $7,994 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $7,341 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 515 to 512.

Crab Orchard's spending in 2017-18 was 45 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
