Jackson County passed a referendum for board members of Elverado Community Unit School District 196 to be elected at-large on the Nov. 6 ballot.
Jackson County voted in favor of the referendum, "Shall members of the Board of Education of Elverado Community Unit School District 196, Jackson County, Illinois, be elected at large and without restriction by area of residence within the District rather than in accordance with the provisions of subsection (a) of Section 10-10.5 of the Illinois School Code for mandatory board representation?".
With 100 percent of the votes counted, 428 were in favor and 209 opposed the referendum.
