Village of DeSoto Board of Trustees met August 20.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

President Pro Temp Paulette Johnson called the second meeting of the De Soto Village Board of Trustees to order at 7:00 p.m. Village Clerk Paula Parks was present to record the minutes.

Present: Brian Gleason Cristy Desormeaux

Paulette Johnson Eric Schuler

Absent: Heath Rushing Tony Rushing

John Evans

Motion made by Cristy Desormeaux, seconded by Brian Gleason, to dispense with the reading of the minutes and to approve them. Motion carried.

Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Eric Schuler, to approve the July revenue report. Motion carried.

Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Eric Schuler, to pay the list of bills. Upon roll call vote: Brian Gleason – Yes; Cristy Desormeaux – Yes; Eric Schuler. Motion carried.

The representative from Ameren Illinois Real Estate was not present to discuss Ameren’s purchase of Village property across from Dillinger Road. There was no discussion on the subject.

Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Cristy Desormeaux, to approve the financial audit of the Village’s funds for the fiscal year beginning May 1, 2017 and ending April 30, 2018. Motion carried.

Regarding the installation of a sidewalk where Douglas Street turns into Reed Station Road, board members agreed Ms. Flores had a valid concern, but it is not economically feasible for the Village to install a sidewalk at this time.

Trustee Brian Gleason reported that Tim Bishop will be hired as a part-time officer. He is already a trained police officer. If the part-time position works out and Mr. Bishop wants it, the Village will consider hiring him full time.

David Griffin reported they are testing the bush hog that hooks onto the tractor to see if they want to keep it. If not, they might sell it.

Trustee Paulette Johnson said that there will be a De Soto Daze meeting on Monday, September 24 at 7:00 pm.

Trustee Heath Rushing submitted a letter of resignation as of August 20, 2018.

Motion made by Cristy Desormeaux, seconded by Eric Schuler, to accept the resignation of Trustee Heath Rushing. Motion carried.

Trustee Johnson asked board members to get information for the newsletter to her by the next meeting.

Trustee Eric Schuler reported that the bid opening for oil and chipping the streets will be held Tuesday, August 28 at 10 am at the Village Hall.

David Griffin reported that he had talked with Brett Grasher about fixing the sink hole at 500 N. Hickory St. as soon as a day is available.

The next regular board meeting will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 7:00 pm due to the Labor Day holiday.

Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Eric Schuler, to adjourn at 7:40 pm. Motion carried.
