Village of DeSoto Board of Trustees met Sept. 17.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

President John Evans called the second regular monthly meeting of the De Soto Village Board of Trustees to order at 7:00 P.M. Village Clerk Paula Parks was present to record the minutes.

Present: Brian Gleason Cristy Desormeaux

Paulette Johnson John Evans

Tony Rushing

Absent: Eric Schuler

Motion made by Brian Gleason, seconded by Tony Rushing, to dispense with the reading of the minutes and to approve them. Motion carried.

Motion made by Tony Rushing, seconded by Paulette Johnson, to approve the August revenue report. Motion carried.

Motion made by Cristy Desormeaux, seconded by Tony Rushing, to pay the list of bills. Upon roll call vote: Tony Ruhing – Yes; Brian Gleason – Yes; Paulette Johnson – Yes; Cristy Desormeaux – Yes. Motion carried.

Trustee Paulette Johnson reported that the school had purchased the “Home of the Lady Rangers” sign to go over the scoreboard on the small diamond. It has already been installed, and it looks good.

The Fire Department has 1800 9-volt batteries to give to people for their smoke detectors. Two batteries per household will be given. They will be available at the Village Hall. A sign-up sheet will be available for the elderly and the disabled so the Fire Department can install their batteries.

Trustee Johnson stated that she will need help from the board members on Saturday, October 6 to park cars that are not going to the car show.

Motion made by Paulette Johnson, seconded by Brian Gleason, to approve the application from James Hartsock for a building permit to build a garage at 111 W. Washington St. Motion carried.

The next regular board meeting will be held Monday, October 1, 2018 at 7:00 PM.

Motion made by Tony Rushing, seconded by Brian Gleason, to adjourn at 7:24 PM. Motion carried.
