Carbondale Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.
John Barnett has recently been promoted to Vice President, Regional President of the Southern Region with First Mid Bank & Trust. He will manage the banking operations of the First Mid Southern Illinois Region with banking centers in Carbondale, Carmi, Carterville, De Soto, Harrisburg, Lawrenceville, Marion, Mt. Carmel, Mt. Vernon and Murphysboro. Barnett is responsible for growing core business lines, including agriculture, commercial and personal banking, Trust & Wealth Management and Insurance.
“We are very pleased to have John promoted to this position as Regional President”, said Eric McRae, Chief Credit Officer. “With his deep experience in the banking industry and proven track record, he brings a lot of expertise to this position and will serve our customers and the market well.”
Prior to joining First Mid in 2015, Barnett has held various roles in commercial lending and branch management with Old National Bank. He earned a B.S. in Business Administration from SIU Carbondale. Barnett is currently Board President of Habitat for Humanity of Williamson County and is a participant in Leadership Carbondale.
