Carbondale Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.

Petition packets for the upcoming 2019 City Council elections will be available in the City Clerk's Office on Tuesday, August 28.

The 2019 Candidate's Guide is available online at https://elections.il.gov/Downloads/ElectionInformation/PDF/2019CanGuide.pdf.

Signed nominating petitions must be submitted to the City Clerk's Office during the filing period of November 19 - 26, excluding November 22 - 23 when City Hall is closed for the Thanksgiving holiday, and the weekend of November 24 - 25.

In April 2019, the City of Carbondale will select a Mayor (1 - four-year term) and three City Council members (3 - four-year terms). This election is for the seats currently held by Council members Adam Loos, Navreet Kang, and Tom Grant, as well as Mayor John M. Henry.

If 13 or more candidates file for the three City Council positions and/or 5 or more candidates file for Mayor, a Primary Election will be held on February 26; the Consolidated Election will be April 2.
