Marion City Council met June 15.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

The Pledge to the American Flag was led by Mayor Rinella. Mayor Rinella called the meeting to order. The roll call response was as follows:

Physically Present: Commissioner Hightower, Commissioner Webb and Commissioner Goss and Mayor Rinella.

Absent: Commissioner Patton

Mayor Rinella stated this is a Special Meeting having given notice of the Special Meeting fortyeight hours prior to the meeting as stated in 05/ILCS 120/2.02 with the reason for the Special Called Meeting being as follows:

1. Council approval to purchase a Cemetery vehicle.

2. Council acceptance and approval of bank loan bids for financing vehicles for the Police, Street, EMA/911, Cemetery and Sewer Departments.

3. Council approval of epoxy sealant on all bolts, washers and nuts in the aquatic center of the Hub Recreation Center.

Commissioner Goss presented the bid for a new 2018 F-150 truck for the Cemetery Department from Marion Ford in the amount of $27,970.00. Commissioner Hightower made a motion to approve the bid of Marion Ford at $27,970.00. Commissioner Goss seconded the motion.

On Roll Call Vote Commissioner Hightower, Commissioner Webb And Commissioner Goss And Mayor Rinella All Voted Yea.

City Treasurer Steve Hale presented the bids from the Banks:

First Southern Bank Loan 3.24%

People's Nat'l Bank Loan 3.35%

US Bancorp Lease 3.36%

Banterra Bank Loan 3.52%

Midland States Bank Loan 3.99%

Treasurer Steve Hale recommended the lowest bid, First Southern Bank with interest at 3.24%. Commissioner Webb made a motion to approve the low bid of First Southern Bank at 3.24%. Commissioner Hightower seconded the motion.

On Roll Call Vote Commissioners Hightower, Webb. Goss And Mayor Rinella Voted Yea.

Resolution 2018-16 Authorizing Distribution Of Hotel Tax Escrow Account. The funds from the Hotel Tax Escrow will be deposited to the general funds for the City of Marion for any and all general expenses or obligations of the City.

Treasurer Steve Hale stated the Hotel Tax Escrow account was set up after he discovered that the Sunset Clause had not be removed from the 6% Hotel Tax. The Hotel Tax Escrow account was used to refund to any of the Hotels that requested a refund of their overpayment. There is $110,000.00 in the account at this time. No one has applied for a refund in over a year. Commissioner Goss made a motion to approve Resolution 2018-16 as presented. Commissioner Webb seconded the motion.

On Roll Call Vote Commissioners Hightower, Webb, Goss And Mayor Rinella Voted Yes.

Council approval of epoxy sealant on all bolts, washers and nuts in the aquatic center of the Hub Recreation Center was tabled till further notice.

Commissioner Hightower made a motion to adjourn the Special Meeting. Commissioner Webb seconded the motion.

On Roll Call Vote Commissioners Hightower, Webb, Goss And Mayor Rinella Voted Yea.
