Carbondale Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.
AES Solar announced today that on June 30, 2018, as part of the celebration of their 19th anniversary, they will be donating and installing a solar system at Gaia House Interfaith Center, 913 S. Illinois Ave., Carbondale, IL. The installation will be part of a Hands-on Solar Installation course through John A. Logan College, and will be performed by John A. Logan students and AES Solar staff. The installation will begin at 9:00 AM, and local media is welcomed to attend.
AES Solar, now located in Carterville, IL, was founded in 1999 by Aur Beck. As part of his Native American culture of giving on a birthday, Beck has decided to donate the materials and labor for a solar system at Carbondale mainstay Gaia House Interfaith Center, located across from Southern Illinois University on the corner of Southern Illinois Ave. and W. Grand Ave.
“After 19 years of installing solar, I’m excited to see more professional installers coming to the area,” says Beck, who has combined the installation with a learning opportunity for students of John A. Logan college. The class will be a practical, hands-on, show-and-tell in the installation of roof racks, solar modules, and inverters. Students who successfully completed a prerequisite course on June 23rd, as well as the installation on June 30th, will be prepared to converse with solar contractors.
