Crab Orchard Public Library District Board met April 17.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

At 6:45 PM, President Russ Stoup called the Board of Trustees meeting to order. Trustees present were Stoup, Susan Rolf, Amanda Barker, Scott Barger, Cheryl Johnson, and Anita Biver. Library Director Erin Steinsultz was also present. Trustee Evelyn Barber was absent.

Public Comment: There was no public comment.

Disposition of Previous Minutes: Barger made a motion to approve the minutes as presented. Johnson seconded. Motion carried.

Communications: Notice was received regarding the Per Capita Funds. The library will be receiving $9,260.

Report of the Director: In addition to the written report that was submitted, Erin commented on the good job that Julie is doing. Gary Hill said there is sufficient insurance coverage to cover the value of the library’s collection which, as of 3/13/18, was $200,872.16. No contractor has come back to do the list of jobs that Erin has compiled. Julie’s husband has done some odd jobs. The book drop is gone for sandblasting and Erin plans to paint it herself.

Financial Report: The financial report was approved and is ready to submit for audit.

Payment of Bills: Johnson made a motion to pay Baker and Taylor $318.23 for the purchase of adult books. Barker seconded. Motion carried. Barger made a motion to pay Baker and Sons Plumbing $785.00 for sump pump/aeration system alarm panel replacement. Rolf seconded. Motion carried.

Johnson made a motion to pay Visa $581.61 for the new tables and other miscellaneous items. Rolf seconded. Motion carried.

Unfinished Business:

a) and b) Ongoing.

c) Summer reading program plans are in place. No one came for shredder day. An avid Big Foot enthusiast will present a Big Foot Program this summer. A $5,000 grant for children’s books has been applied for.

d) The Director was given her evaluation and she presented her goals on paper to be read by the Trustees by the next meeting.

Closed Session: Rolf made a motion for the Board to go into closed session at 7:24 PM on April 17, 2018 to discuss Board Trustee matters. Johnson seconded. Motion carried. At 7:34 PM, Barker made a motion to end the closed session. Rolf seconded. Motion carried.

New Business:

a) The board is seeking a new member to appoint. Some names were suggested as possibilities.

b) Erin has applied to be a Notary Public.

c) Emergency Procedures for most any emergency was read and discussed. Barger made a motion to approve these procedures. Biver seconded. Motion carried.

d) A motion was made to remove Evelyn Barber as a Trustee of the Crab Orchard Public Library District Board of Trustees due to absenteeism in accordance with Board bylaws and Illinois statutes. Johnson made the motion. Barker seconded. Motion carried.

Adjournment: At 7:56 PM. Johnson made a motion to adjourn. Rolf seconded. Motion carried.
