Carbondale Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.
The Vocal Studio of Granger Odum and Watermark Auto Group are proud to bring Tom Key, Russell Treyz and Harry Chapin’s “Cotton Patch Gospel” to The Varsity Center on June 8, 9 and 10
Set in the Deep South and written during the height of the Civil Rights Movement, this production puts a modern twist on the story of Jesus Christ, while dealing with issues of racism, persecution and white supremacy. Come out to see a story everyone knows and maybe learn a little something unexpected. The show is appropriate for all ages.
Show times are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 8 and 9; and 2 p.m. Sunday, June 10.
Tickets are $15 and are available in advance at cottonpatchgospel.brownpapertickets.com and at the door 30 minutes before the show starts.
Doors and The Varsity Bar open at 6:30 p.m. The bar features wine, beer, select cocktails, spiked coffee drinks, soda and snacks.
