Herrin Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.
What began as a simple radio broadcast in 1925 is today a live-entertainment phenomenon in Nashville Tennessee. Dedicated to honoring country music’s rich history and dynamic present, the Grand Ole Opry showcases a mix of country legends and the contemporary chart-toppers who have followed in their footsteps.
In the image of that grand icon, The Southern Illinois Opry was born. Our events will feature local talent from all over Southern Illinois. We will also feature top International Recording Artists from Nashville and around the world. All of our shows will be hosted by the Herrin Civic Center and will include Bluegrass, Gospel, and Country Artists.
