Carbondale Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.

Your last chance to catch The Holden Quartet in performance comes around Friday, May 18, at The Varsity.

“We hope everyone is able to attend the last performance and enjoy a fun, exciting night of rockabilly, blues and swing,” said band namesake and guitarist Dakota Holden.

The quartet’s other members are Isaac White, Keith Campbell and Lucas Feather. Isaac will be leaving the area soon, having just graduated from SIU with a degree in audio engineering.

Dakota and Lucas have been playing music together for five years, pushing each other musically since high school. In the summer of 2016, Dakota and Keith started a small jazz duo, and it didn't take long for Lucas to join. Isaac and Dakota met while working as AV technicians at SIU, and began collaborating on projects and musical endeavors in the audio engineering program.

It didn’t take long for the four to join up and form The Holden Quartet, and, for the last two years, they’ve been playing together in Southern Illinois.

In the group’s final weeks, they have been working on releasing a new CD, “Odd One Out,” which will be available for purchase at the show.

The performance will be in The Varsity’s Balcony, which features state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems. It’s a fantastic acoustic space that allows an up-close-and-personal experience for musicians and their audience.

The show begins at 7:30 Friday, May 18. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. They can be purchased in advance online only at thevarsitycenter.eventbrite.com. They can also be purchased on the night of the show when doors open.

Doors and The Varsity Bar open at 7 p.m. The bar features wine, beer, select cocktails, spiked coffee drinks, soda and snacks.

The Varsity is downtown Carbondale at 418 S. Illinois Ave. To keep up with event and more, go to www.facebook.com/varsitycenter.
