Carbondale Chamber of Commerce recently issued the following announcement.

The City of Carbondale is seeking help from the community to come up with a creative, festive and one-of-a-kind name and logo to promote the City’s upcoming Halloween event. Artists are encouraged to submit entries that capture the true spirit of Halloween.

The contest is open to all southern Illinois artists and Saluki graduates. The logo must be eye-catching, easily identifiable and legible. There are no limitations on color, but the logo must be easily readable in grayscale (black and white). The name of the event must include the word “Halloween.” Logos cannot contain copyrighted materials, third-party artwork or images.

Contest applications are available online at www.explorecarbondale.com or at City Hall. Artwork (electronic entries should be JPG or PDF format) can be emailed with the words “Halloween Logo Contest” in the subject line to afox@explorecarbondale.com. Entries may also be submitted via U.S. mail or in person. The deadline for entries is Friday, May 25 at 5 p.m. Entries received after the deadline will not be accepted.

The Carbondale Halloween Committee will select the winning logo. The design will be unveiled at the June 12 City Council Meeting.

The winner will receive $150, plus bragging rights for designing Carbondale’s official Halloween logo. The City will acquire ownership for the winning logo and may use the image as it deems appropriate.
