Analysis: Murphysboro pays $2.91 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Murphysboro Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 74.4 percent of the $443,564 the Murphysboro Police Pension Fund brought in last year, or $2.91 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Carbondale Reporter analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Murphysboro contributed $330,233 to the fund, which saw a $71,796 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $113,331, or 25.6 percent, in 2016.
