Analysis: Herrin pays $8.30 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Herrin Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 89.2 percent of the $1,116,112 the Herrin Police Pension Fund brought in last year, or $8.30 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Carbondale Reporter analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Herrin contributed $996,122 to the fund, which saw a $325,253 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $119,990, or 10.8 percent, in 2016.
