Analysis: Herrin pays $6.07 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Herrin Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 85.9 percent of the $699,276 the Herrin Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $6.07 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Carbondale Reporter analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Herrin contributed $600,500 to the fund, which saw a $90,690 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $98,776, or 14.1 percent, in 2016.
