Analysis: Carbondale pays $5.52 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Carbondale Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 84.7 percent of the $2,569,327 the Carbondale Police Pension Fund brought in last year, or $5.52 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Carbondale Reporter analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Carbondale contributed $2,175,859 to the fund, which saw a $142,341 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $393,468, or 15.3 percent, in 2016.
