Analysis: Carbondale pays $5.02 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Carbondale Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 83.4 percent of the $970,808 the Carbondale Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $5.02 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Carbondale Reporter analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Carbondale contributed $809,742 to the fund, which saw a $24,367 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $161,057, or 16.6 percent, in 2016. Another $9 came from other unspecified sources.
