Village of DeSoto Board of Trustees met March 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

President John Evans called the first regular meeting of the DeSoto Village Board of Trustees to order at 7:00 p.m. Village Clerk Paula Parks was present to record the minutes.

Present: Tony Rushing Brian Gleason

Paulette Johnson John Evans

Absent: Heath Rushing Eric Schuler

Motion made by Tony Rushing, seconded by Brian Gleason, to pay the list of bills. Upon roll call vote: Tony Rushing – Yes; Brian Gleason – Yes; Paulette Johnson – Yes. Motion carried.

Motion made by Paulette Johnson, seconded by Brian Gleason, to dispense with the reading of the minutes and to approve them. Motion carried.

Motion made by Tony Rushing, seconded by Brian Gleason, to approve the February Expense report. Motion carried.

Discussion about a water deposit rate increase was tabled until Trustee Heath Rushing is present.

Trustee Paulette Johnson reported that Terminix had conducted a termite inspection at the park house. He found inactive termites but no active ones. The cost for the termite inspection was $1,234.80.

Trustee Johnson also contracted Terminix to treat the park house on a regular basis for an annual fee of $279.00. The regular spray will include treatment for termites.

The meeting for each department to submit their Fiscal Year 2018-2019 budget is scheduled for Tuesday, March 13 at 6 pm at the Village Hall.

Action on the electric contract with Select Energy Partners was tabled until the next board meeting. Clarification was needed on the extension of the contract.

The next board meeting will be held Monday, March 19, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.
