Unity Point Community Consolidated School District 140 Board met November 9.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

The regular meeting of the Unity Point Board of Education was called to order at 6:02 p.m. by the president, D.W. Presley, with the following members present: Marissa Baxter, Morteza Daneshdoost, D.W. Presley, Sylvia Thoms, and Tom Upton. Others present were Lori James-Gross, Leslie Varble, Pam Stevenson, and Chris Midden.

Morteza Daneshdoost made the motion, seconded by Marissa Baxter to approve the Agenda with the presentation of the FY17 Audit Report tabled until the regular December 2017 board meeting. Motion carried 5- 0 with all voting yea.

Tom Upton made the motion, seconded by Sylvia Thoms to approve the minutes of the October 12, 2017 regular meeting, copy attached. Motion carried 5-0 with all voting yea.

Morteza Daneshdoost made the motion, seconded by Marissa Baxter to approve the Consent Agenda including the Fuelman invoice included with list of bills. Motion carried 5-0 with all voting yea.

D. W. Presley recognized guests and visitors that were present.

Lori James-Gross recognized School Board Members Day and invited board members to lunch on November 14, 2017. She also presented an update on the County Schools Facility Tax.

Lori James-Gross presented for review the final version of the Request for Proposal.

D.W. Presley made the motion, seconded by Morteza Daneshdoost to table the Request for Proposal for an Energy Performance Contract, as presented by Lori James-Gross, until the regular December 2017 meeting.

Motion carried 5-0 with all voting yea.

Lori James-Gross presented information regarding the estimated amounts necessary to be levied and the tentative tax levy for 2017.

Morteza Daneshdoost made the motion, seconded Marissa Baxter to adopt the Resolution Regarding the Estimated Amounts Necessary to be Levied for the Year 2017. Motion carried 5-0 with all voting yea.

D.W. Presley made the motion, seconded by Marissa Baxter to adopt the Resolution Concerning Serious Safety Hazard Finding for the 2017-2018 school year. Motion carried 5-0 with all voting yea.

Morteza Daneshdoost made the motion, seconded by Marissa Baxter to approve the purchase of a used 2013 International 42 passenger school bus with wheelchair lift from Midwest Transit Equipment Co. in the amount of $53,728.00 with the option to purchase up to a two year engine/body/chassis warranty. Motion carried 5-0 with all voting yea.

Morteza Daneshdoost made the motion, seconded by Tom Upton to approve the board member estimated expenses for the Triple I conference in Chicago as presented. Motion carried 5-0 with all voting yea.

Lori James-Gross presented current enrollment figures, per attached and provided a Board/Community Retreat – Strategic Plan Update.

Leslie Varble presented an overview of Trauma Sensitive Schools Professional Development; release of the Illinois School Report Card; the IIRC Snapshot; and activities that are taking place during the month of November at Unity Point.

Lori James-Gross provided information about the recent fundraiser for the Bruce Shingleton Memorial Fund.

Lori James-Gross provided information on the IL-EMPOWER Pilot where Unity Point School will be a pilot school.

All schools will be required to have the program in place by the 2018-19 school year.

Morteza Daneshdoost made a motion, seconded by Sylvia Thoms to adjourn the meeting at 7:45 p.m. Motion carried 5-0 with all voting yea.
