Learn how local artist Lindy Loyd uses an 8-pound sledgehammer, grinders and drills to sculpt stone oil lamps out of slabs of granite that otherwise would go to the landfill at an artist trunk sale to be held Saturday at NEST Arts in downtown Carbondale.
Each lamp, which can be used indoors and out, is unique.
"I love to watch people go through the process of deciding which lamp they want,” said Loyd of Flaming Granite/Slab Happy. "People put a lot of thought into it and even touch the pieces to see which one speaks to them.”
The trunk sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at NEST Arts at 101 W. Monroe St.
