Just before the start of the Thanksgiving holiday season, the Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH) Cancer Institute received a $600 donation from the Carbondale Fire Department.
Firefighters raised the funds for the institute through the sale of breast cancer T-shirts, a Carbondale city release said.
Representatives from Carbondale Fire Department presented the donation to SIH during a gathering Nov. 17 at Fire Station No. 2 at 401 N. Glenview Drive, the release said.
