Unity Point Community Consolidated School District 140 Board (Part 2) met May 2.

The special meeting of the Unity Point Board of Education was called to order at 5:10 p.m. by the president, Suzanne Sanders, with the following members present: Suzanne Sanders, Rick Asaturian, Tom Upton, Morteza Daneshdoost and D.W. Presley. Others present were Lori James-Gross, Kerry Glenn, Bill Laser, Chris Midden, Marissa Baxter, Heidi Jung, Amanda Hilt and Pam Stevenson.
Morteza Daneshdoost made the motion, seconded by D.W. Presley to approve the Agenda. Motion carried 5-0 with all voting yea.
Rick Asaturian made the motion, seconded by D.W. Presley to approve the minutes of the April 13, 2017 regular meeting, copy attached. Motion carried 4-0-1 with votes as follows: Asaturian-yea, Daneshdoostabstain, Presley-yea, Sanders-yea, Upton-yea.
Suzanne Sanders recognized guests and visitors that were present.
Suzanne Sanders reviewed the process for seating new board members. The Board, U.P.E.A. and Superintendent expressed appreciation in recognizing retiring board members’ years of service to the District.
D.W. Presley was appointed President Pro-Tempore; and Bill Laser was appointed Secretary Pro-Tempore by Morteza Daneshdoost.
Suzanne Sanders, Rick Asaturian and Eric Jung were recognized as retiring board members with a short reception following adjournment.
It was the consensus to adjourn the meeting sine die at 5:15 p.m.
