The city of Carbondale is hosting an open house March 1 to accept input from residents and business owners about architectural design standards that could be implemented in the downtown area.
The open house will be from 4-7 p.m. at the Old Train Depot, 121 S. Illinois Ave.
During a community meeting in October, attendees offered numerous comments as to the materials, colors and architectural details that would be best suited for Carbondale. The idea to implement design standards was put in motion by City Council as part of the downtown master plan. The city intends to expand its minimum design standards that currently cover building heights, setbacks from roadways and other criteria.
