The Desoto Board of Education met April 25 to approve the lunch program.

The Board of Education meeting was called to order by President Tammy Shults at 7:01 p.m. with the following members present:

Copeland

Galloway

Shults

Member(s) absent: Piper, Shackleton, Smith

Motion made by Rick Galloway, seconded Matt Bowlby, to approve the agenda. Motion carried.

Motion made by Paul Copeland, seconded by Matt Bowlby, to approve the minutes of the Regular Board Meeting on March 28, 2016, as presented. Motion carried.

Motion made by Rick Galloway, seconded by Paul Copeland, to authorize the payment of bills as presented. Roll call vote:

Shults yea Motion carried.

Tommie Smith entered the meeting at 7:17 p.m.

Motion made by Paul Copeland, seconded by Rick Galloway, to approve the Treasurer’s Report as presented. Roll call vote:

Smith yea Motion carried.

The board discussed switching banks and decided to table the topic for around six months, or until the state budget impasse gets resolved.

Motion made by Paul Copeland, seconded by Tommie Smith, to approve the PRESS policy 91 updates except for Policy 7:190 Student Suspensions. Motion carried.

Motion made by Rick Galloway, seconded by Paul Copeland, to enter into closed session at 7:40 p.m. to discuss personnel and negotiations. Roll call vote:

Motion made by Rick Galloway, seconded by Paul Copeland, to come out of closed session at 7:57 p.m. Roll call vote:

No action was taken in closed session.

Motion made by Paul Copeland, seconded by Matt Bowlby, to use Reduction in Force (RIF) for the following positions: crossing guard and one bus driver. Roll call vote:

Motion made by Tommie Smith, seconded by Paul Copeland, to approve the Summer Reading/Lunch program as presented. Roll call vote:

Motion made by Paul Copeland, seconded by Tommie Smith, to approve the intergovernmental agreement with project SOAR. Motion carried.

Graduation has been set for Friday, May 20, 2016 at 7:00 p.m.

Motion made by Matt Bowlby, seconded by Paul Copeland, to adjourn the meeting at 8:08 p.m. Motion carried.
