The Southern Illinois Miners baseball team recently released their 2017 schedule, according to siminers.com.
The Miners, who have won at least 60 games in each of the last three seasons, along with three division titles, will open the season playing Evansville at 7:05 p.m. Friday, May 12, at Rent One Park, to start their schedule of 48 regular-season home games.
Promotions include having nine “Fireworks Friday” home dates, former Oakland A's star Jose Canseco being part of a home-run derby with fans, and an appearance by Internet star Domingo Ayala for a unique baseball clinic for kids. The Canseco and Ayala appearances will include autograph and photo sessions. The team also will have special nights to honor firefighters, emergency medical technicians, teachers and veterans.
Other promotions will be announced during the season.
