Marion City Council approves Black Friday promotions

The Marion City Council met Oct. 10 to approve Black Friday promotions.

OLD BUSINESS:

A.Council discussion / approval of bids to resurface two City parking lots 1) College Street parking lot at S. Madison Street; 2) North Madison Street parking lot at East Union Street (behind old City Hall)

B. Discuss/approve installing lights on The Hill water tower.

NEW BUSINESS:

1. Dave Alvin, Zenner Meters, to present new Water Department Meter Reading System.

2. Council discussion /approval of City of Marion Capitalization Policy effective FY 2016-2017.

3. Council discussion / approval of annual renewal of Harris Computer program Water Office. $10,207.55.

4. Council discussion / approval to accept bid from Village of Pittsburg to purchase 1982 Firetruck – pending approval of Village of Pittsburg’s Council as their Council meets Monday October 10th also.

5. Council discussion / approval of bids for 5 foot PCC Sidewalk – The Hill area.

6. Discussion / approval of Lucas Newton as a Library shelver position at $9.00 per hour. He will replace Kirsten Elston who has resigned as of October 1, 2016.

7. Hub items to be discussed/approved.

A. New Employee Recommendation

Henry Jones – Lifeguard – $9.50/hr.

William Brent Miles – Lifeguard – $9.50/hr. screening.

B. Added Job Classification Recommendations

Sarah Knowles (current lifeguard) – Add Lead Lifeguard job code – $12/hr. (will be IMRF)

Erin Wood (current lifeguard) – Add Lead Lifeguard job code – $12/hr.

C. Pay change needed (should have been requested previously)

Alec McConnell – café job code currently – $8.25 – should have been adjusted to $9/hr. with general pay rate change at previous recent council meeting

D. Marketing budget approval of $12,000 for Black Friday promotion

Presentation of Black Friday promotion budget.

8. Code Enforcement items to be discussed/approved.

A.Council discussion / approval to create an additional position in the Code Enforcement Office.

B.Approve job description and hourly rate of pay.

C.Council discussion/approval of the necessary equipment for the new position in the Code Enforcement Office (vehicle, computer, telephone, etc.)

D. Council approval to hire Greg Lynn to fill newly created Code Enforcement Position pending post hiring screening.

9. Boyton Community Center item to be discussed.

A.Council approval to replace kitchen exhaust hood system at Boyton Street Community Center.

10. Travis Akin, to present Azavar Audit Solutions, Incorporated. Municipal Audit programs on behalf of the customer.
