Jackson Engagement Plan Working Group discusses county building needs

At a recent meeting, the Jackson County Community Engagement Plan Working Group discussed the status of plans to take an inventory of county buildings' space needs, as well as any needed repairs and the funding required for them.

Call to Order (4:40 PM)

Present: John S. Rendleman, Julie Peterson, Tom Redmond, Andrew Erbes, Tamiko Mueller

Approval of Minutes

I. 16-0741 September 7, 2016 Minutes

Peterson moved and Redmond seconded to approve the September 7, 2016 minutes as

presented, motion carried.

II. 16-0742 Discussion regarding status of county buildings, repair costs, space needs and funding

Redmond gave the working group a summary of the discussion he had with Hurst Roche. They

are going to help put together a general PowerPoint, using the Space Needs Study, that the

county can change and update as they want. Redmond went on to discuss a time line for

completion of the PowerPoint, he hopes the working group can finish it in time for the League

of Women Voters meeting next month. The group went on to discuss what areas to include in

a walking tour, putting together an approximate cost of repairs to the courthouse and other

county buildings over approximately the last eight years and how to outline the differ ent

options that the building commission will have once it is created.

III. 16-0743 Public Communication

The working group discussed the tasks that each member is working on: Peterson is working on

getting a walking tour of the county buildings together, Erbes is working on a social media

strategy, Mueller is working on a brochure, Redmond talked with Hurst Roche about the Space

Needs Study and is going to work on putting together some information for a PowerPoint, and

Rendleman will put together some information about what a building commission is and he has

been speaking with the media and others about the building commission.
