Jackson Human Resource Subcommittee discusses ongoing policy review

At a recent meeting, the Jackson County Human Resource Subcommittee discussed its ongoing review of policies and procedures.

Members Present: Chapman, J.S. Rendleman and S. Bost

Members Absent: Erbes

Also Present: Dan Brenner, Rebecca Blomer, Mike Carr

Approval of Minutes

I. 16-0349 Approval of April 5, 2016 Minutes

The subcommittee will address this at the next meeting.

II. 16-0350 Policy & Procedures Review

The subcommittee reviewed the policies of those departments that have responded to the

request for policies. Mr. S. Bost listed some basic things that can be addressed in the nearfuture as well as some things that will take longer to address. The subcommittee brieflydiscussed the possibility of hiring a County HR director. Mr.'s Brenner and Carr discussed &suggested that the County Board adopt a policy that is up to date and complies with State andFederal laws and then present it to the other offices in the county and suggest that they adoptit as well. The subcommittee directed the Committee Coordinator to contact Ms. Rogers withCIRMA to see if there is still a slot available for a free update of Employment Handbook. Also,the subcommittee would like to look at the Madison County Personnel policy forcomparison. Then the committee discussed compensatory time and how Board employees arerecording and spending their time. Mr. S. Bost mentioned that employment applications needto be looked at to make sure they are complying with current laws. The subcommittee willdiscuss this further at the next meeting.
