City of Genoa City Council met Oct. 15.
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
Mayor Brust called the meeting of the City Council to order at 6:30pm followed by roll call. Aldermen Wesner, Pulley, Stage, Braheny, Gudeman and Roca were present. Alderman Winter was absent initially but arrived at 7:03pm. She did not participate in any votes. Quorum present.
Mayor Brust led the pledge of allegiance.

CONSENT AGENDA
Alderman Pulley made a motion to approve of items 1-18 within the consent agenda, seconded by Alderman Wesner. No further discussion. Aldermen Wesner, Pulley, Stage, Braheny, Gudeman, and Roca voted yes. Motion carried.

NEW BUSINESS:
PRESENTATION OF THE CITY OF GENOA FISCAL YEAR 2024-2025 AUDIT REPORT BY SIKICH
A representative from Sikich presented the City of Genoa’s Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Audit to the City Council. He went through the Audit Report highlighting and explaining the most significant portions of it. It was explained that after this report is approved it will be submitted to the Government Finance Officers Association to be considered for the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. If this certificate is received it will be the City of Genoa’s 20th consecutive award.
ACCEPT THE ANNUAL COMPREHENSIVE FINANCIAL REPORT FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDED APRIL 30, 2025
Alderman Wesner made a motion to accept the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, seconded by Alderman Braheny. No further discussion. Aldermen Wesner, Pulley, Stage, Braheny, Gudeman and Roca voted yes. Motion carried.
APPROVE HEALTH INSURANCE RENEWAL EFFECTIVE DECEMBER 1, 2025, THROUGH NOVEMBER 30, 2026
Alderman Braheny made a motion to approve the health insurance renewal, seconded by Alderman Gudeman. There was some discussion regarding how much the city pays towards each employee’s health insurance and whether or not this would be adjusted if increases continue to occur. No further discussion. Aldermen Wesner, Pulley, Stage, Braheny, Gudeman and Roca voted yes. Motion carried.
APPROVE AN ORDINANCE AMENDING VARIOUS TITLES OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF GENOA
Alderman Pulley made a motion to approve the ordinance amending various titles of the municipal code, seconded by Alderman Stage. No further discussion. Aldermen Wesner, Pulley, Stage, Braheny, Gudeman and Roca voted yes. Motion carried.
APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR TO PURCHASE A 2024 FORD F-350 FROM KUNES AUTO GROUP, NOT TO EXCEED $43,987.70
Alderman Stage made a motion to approve and authorize the Public Works Director to purchase a 2024 Ford F-350, seconded by Alderman Roca. There was some discussion on trading older vehicles, vehicle warranties and what kind of upfitting this vehicle would need after the purchase. No further discussion. Aldermen Wesner, Pulley, Stage, Braheny, Gudeman and Roca voted yes. Motion carried.
APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO PURCHASE CLARIFIER CHAINS AND SPROCKETS FROM EVOQUA WATER TECHNOLOGIES, NOT TO EXCEED $19,828.66
Alderman Wesner made a motion to approve and authorize the mayor to purchase clarifier chains and sprockets from Evoqua Water Technologies, seconded by Alderman Braheny. There was some discussion about the life cycle of the current clarifiers and what the new life span will be. No further discussion. Aldermen Wesner, Pulley, Stage, Braheny, Gudeman and Roca voted yes. Motion carried.
FUTURE ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION – Alderman Roca brought up an email that was sent to him from a resident in North Oak Creek regarding parking issues. This will be looked into by the city and the police department. Alderman Braheny brought up property maintenance issues and there was a brief conversation about how the process works.
DEPARTMENT REPORTS:
FINANCE:
Finance Director Tures let the council know that all the fund balances are sitting where they expected them to be. She also let the council know that with the approval of the audit they will now be working on making sure all state statute requirements are met before the end of October.
PUBLIC WORKS:
Public Works Director Smith gave an update on the Lead Service Line project. He also told the council that they had their final tree board meeting of the year and explained what they will be working on. Finally, he announced to the council that he has been invited to be a guest speaker at the Lake Branch APWA.
POLICE:
Chief Hathcoat gave the council a breakdown of calls, reports and citations for August and September. He also gave an overview of upcoming events.
ADMINISTRATION:
City Administrator Seguss gave an overview of a couple of items that will be on the next meeting agenda. She also announced that the budget presentation and tax levy presentation will both be on the next meeting agenda.

Motion to adjourn the meeting of the City Council was made by Alderman Wesner, seconded by Alderman Pulley. Voice vote was taken, all voted yes. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:18pm.
