Severin marks Constitution and Citizenship Day, highlights importance of shared democratic principles

Constitution and Citizenship Day, observed on September 17, commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787. The document is recognized as the basis of the United States government. The day also honors individuals who have attained American citizenship.

“Our shared commitment to the principles of our nation is what keeps our democracy strong!” said Illinois State Representative Dave Severin.

Severin, a Republican, was elected to represent Illinois’ 116th House District in 2023, succeeding David Friess.
