City of Genoa City Council met July 2.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Brust called the meeting of the City Council to order at 6:31pm followed by roll call.  Aldermen Wesner, Pulley, Stage, Winter, and Braheny were present. Alderman Gudeman and  Roca were absent. Quorum present. 

Mayor Brust led the pledge of allegiance.  

GUEST SPEAKERS – None 

PUBLIC COMMENT – None  

OLD BUSINESS – None 

CONSENT AGENDA 

Alderman Braheny made a motion to approve of items 1-2 within the consent agenda, seconded  by Alderman Pulley. No further discussion. Aldermen Wesner, Pulley, Stage, Winter, and  Braheny voted yes. Motion carried.  

1. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FROM THE JUNE 25, 2025, SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL  MEETING 

2. APPROVAL OF THE ACCOUNTS PAYABLES DATED JUNE 30, 2025 NEW BUSINESS: 

DISCUSS STRATEGIC PLAN GOALS PROGRESS AND PROVIDE FEEDBACK Ron Sheahan of the Comprehensive and Strategic Plan Committee came before the council to  guide a discussion on the progress of the goals within the Comprehensive and Strategic Plan  adopted in 2024. He was also seeking guidance on some of the goals and requested feedback  from the council members. There was an open discussion between Ron, the council members,  City Administrator Seguss and Mayor Brust on these goals and the progress made over the  course of the past year.  

FUTURE ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION – Alderman Pulley gave an update on this years  Harvest Fest.  

DEPARTMENT REPORTS: 

FINANCE:

City Administrator Seguss gave an update on the finance department reporting that Finance  Director Tures is working on finalizing the audit. She does not anticipate that last year’s fiscal  year budget will need to be amended, and all current operating funds are balanced.  

PUBLIC WORKS: 

City Administrator Seguss gave an update on the public works department stating that Public  Works Director Smith is working on finalizing loan documents for the IEPA for the lead service  line project. This loan agreement will be at the next city council meeting. She also explained the  Water Quality Report that all aldermen received at the meeting.  

ADMINISTRATION: 

City Administrator Seguss gave an update on the next steps for the Comprehensive and Strategic  Plan Committee. She also gave notice of a Special Plan Commission meeting happening later  this month.  

POLICE: 

Chief Hathcoat was not present but left a report of current events at the police department for all  aldermen.  

ANNOUNCEMENTS – None 

Motion to adjourn the meeting of the City Council was made by Wesner, seconded by Alderman Pulley. Voice vote was taken, all voted yes. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:23pm.
