City of Genoa City Council met June 4.
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
Mayor Brust called the meeting of the City Council to order at 6:31pm followed by roll call. Aldermen Wesner, Pulley, Stage, Braheny, and Roca were present. Aldermen Winter was absent. Aldermen Gudeman was initially absent but arrived at 6:35. However, he was not present for the vote on the consent agenda. Quorum present.
Mayor Brust led the pledge of allegiance.

OLD BUSINESS – None
CONSENT AGENDA
Alderman Wesner made a motion to approve of items 1-2 within the consent agenda, seconded by Alderman Pulley. No further discussion. Aldermen Wesner, Pulley, Stage, Braheny and Roca voted yes. Motion carried.

NEW BUSINESS – None
FUTURE ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION – Alderman Stage inquired about the intersection of 23 and Baseline since there are frequent accidents there. Public Works Director Smith explained that it is county’s jurisdiction but based on the recent safety study there are going to be changes made
to help increase the safety at that intersection. He will look into the exact changes being made and report back at a later date.

PUBLIC WORKS:
Public Works Director Smith gave an update on the micro surfacing bid opening that the city had. This will be addressed further at the next council meeting. He also shared that IDOT announced grant funding, and the city put in an application for 6 million dollars.
ADMINISTRATION:
None
POLICE:
Chief Hathcoat gave a report on May statistics along with a report of the 2024-2025 school year. He also shared about recent community outreach and announced that the two new squads have been delivered and are awaiting upfitting.
ANNOUNCEMENTS – None
Motion to adjourn the meeting of the City Council was made by Wesner, seconded by Alderman Pulley. Voice vote was taken, all voted yes. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 6:41pm.
