Murphysboro HS celebrates track achievements and educational engagement

Murphysboro High School recently highlighted several achievements and engagements through its official Twitter account. The school celebrated student accomplishments in athletics and acknowledged contributions from educational leaders.

On May 8, 2025, Murphysboro High School congratulated Sydney Maynor for her achievement as a SIRR All-Conference Girls Track athlete. "Congrats Red Devil, SIRR All-Conference Girls Track!!! Sydney Maynor" was the message shared by the school.

In another tweet on the same day, the school extended congratulations to Shameria Joshua-Ayers for also being recognized as a SIRR All-Conference Girls Track athlete. The tweet read: "Congrats Red Devil, SIRR All-Conference Girls Track!!! Shameria Joshua-Ayers".

Later that day, Murphysboro High School expressed appreciation for GJAL principal Stephanie Finke. The school thanked her for speaking with their education class about her experiences in teaching and administration. The post stated: "We appreciate GJAL principal Stephanie Finke for speaking with our MHS education class about her experiences as a teacher and administrator!!"

The Murphysboro Community Unit School District 186 encompasses several schools including Murphysboro High School and serves Jackson County. It is noted for its diverse student body and commitment to education, spending $19,142 per student in 2020. The district's demographics include a majority of White students at 69 percent, followed by Black students at 15.9 percent, Hispanic students at 7.1 percent, and Asian students at 0.1 percent.
