The Southern Illinois Salukis softball team is set to resume its Missouri Valley Conference play this weekend with a three-game series against the Bradley Braves. The games will take place at Charlotte West Stadium in Carbondale, Illinois, running from April 11 to April 13. The Salukis hold a strong lead in the all-time series against Bradley, boasting a record of 71-37.
This return to conference play follows Southern Illinois' non-conference victory against Missouri earlier this week. The Salukis were successful in their two-day trip to Missouri, where they defeated Missouri State 6-3 on Tuesday and secured a 5-3 win over Missouri on Wednesday. Key performances included individual contributions from Amanda Knutson, Anna Carder, and Mikaela Coburn, with McKenzie Newcomb earning a win in the circle against Missouri State.
Against the Tigers, Emily Williams delivered a critical hit—a three-run home run—while Jackie Lis contributed two extra-base hits. Freshman Kaytee Dahlstrom showed strength by allowing just one earned run in four innings.
Bradley comes into the series with an 18-21 overall record and a 7-7 standing in the conference. Their last MVC outing saw them losing two out of three games against Valparaiso. They most recently secured a victory against SIUE on Tuesday, winning 9-4. Bradley is currently positioned fifth in the MVC standings.
