Celia Pulido named First Team All-American in swimming championship

Southern Illinois swimmer Celia Pulido achieved a significant milestone at the Women's NCAA Championships in Federal Way, Washington. On Friday night, she was named a First Team All-American in the 100-yard backstroke.

Pulido secured fourth place in the finals of the event with a time of 49.77 seconds. This performance set new records for both her program and the Missouri Valley Conference.

Pulido is scheduled to compete again at the Championships today in the 200-yard backstroke event. The preliminaries will start at 10 a.m. PST, and if she advances, the finals are set to begin at 6:03 p.m. PST.
