State Representative Dave Severin paid tribute to Sarah Frey, a prominent figure in agriculture, during a session on the House Floor. The recognition was part of the celebrations for Women’s History Month. Severin highlighted Frey's achievements as a farmer and entrepreneur from Wayne County, Illinois.

Severin stated, “I rise today to celebrate Women’s History Month to pay special tribute to Sarah Frey of Frey Farms in Wayne County, Illinois. Sarah Frey is a true pioneer in agriculture, a successful businesswoman, an author, and an inspiring example of leadership, innovation, and determination."

Frey's journey began early when she helped her family on their farm. At 16 years old, she borrowed $10,000 to purchase a truck and expanded the farm's melon route significantly. By 18, she acquired the family farm and developed it into a leading pumpkin operation in the U.S., earning her the title "Pumpkin Queen of America."

In addition to pumpkins, Frey established Tsamma Watermelon Juice. Her influence extends beyond farming; she advocates for rural communities and women in agriculture through roles with various agricultural boards.

“Sarah’s leadership, passion, and commitment to agriculture inspire us all," Severin remarked.
