City of Murphysboro City Council met Dec. 19.
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
The Murphysboro, Illinois, City Council met in regular session, pursuant to its ordinances, on the 19th day of December, 2024. Alderman Pittman called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and invited Alderman Austin to lead the council in prayer. Following the invocation, Alderman Pittman led the council in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.
Motion: To appoint Alderman Pittman as Mayor Pro Tem in Alderman Erbes’ absence.
Motion by Alderman Jackson Second by Alderman Runge
Alderman Pittman called for a voice vote. All were in favor.
Motion Carried
City Clerk Gina Hunziker was directed to call the roll. The roll was called with the following:
Present: Rick Runge, Mike Austin, Angela Jackson, W.J. Pittman, Gary McComb, Scott Strack
Absent: Barb Hughes, Jance Curry-Witzman, John Erbes, Don Gladden, Mayor Stephens
The council then reviewed the minutes from the previous meeting.
Motion: To approve the minutes of the December 10, 2024, council meeting. All aldermen received a copy of the minutes, for their review, prior to the meeting.
Motion by Alderman Strack Second by Alderman McComb
Mayor Pro Tem Pittman called for a voice vote. All were in favor.
Motion Carried
Motion: To approve the minutes of the December 4, 2024, Budget & Finance Committee meeting. All aldermen received a copy of the minutes, for their review, prior to the meeting.
Motion by Alderman Austin Second by Alderman McComb
Mayor Pro Tem Pittman called for a voice vote. All were in favor.

Presentation of Financial Reports by Scott Evans, Budget Officer: Mr. Evans presented the List of Cash & Cash Equivalents, Schedule of CD’s, and Bank Loan balances.
Consideration of Switching Employee Health Insurance Coverage to BCBS of Illinois: Ms. Ripley stated BCBS offered a 2.83% increase which is within budget.
Motion: To approve Switching Employee Health Insurance Coverage to BCBS Illinois.
Motion by Alderman McComb Second by Alderman Strack
