Southern Illinois Track and Field concluded their participation in the Fighting Illini Challenge at the UI Armory on Saturday with notable performances.
In track events, Brianna Nieset secured second place in the one-mile race with a time of 5:13.86 seconds. Finja Lorsbach excelled in the women's 60-meter hurdles, finishing first with a personal best of 9.08 seconds, followed closely by Kasha Nielly at 9.18 seconds. Jumps coach Jake Brydson commented on Lorsbach's performance: "Finja is continuing to put together better parts of the race," he said. "Hurdles 3-5 were really solid today, I hope she builds on this and the next race goes even better."
Christian Coleman improved his season record in the men's 60-meter hurdles, setting a new personal best of 8.01 seconds after surpassing his preliminary time by .08 seconds.
In field events, Makayla Winters achieved third place in the women's triple jump with her personal best leap of 10.92 meters (35-10 feet). Adrian Przestrzelski claimed fourth place in the men's triple jump with a personal best of 14.45 meters (47-05.00 feet).
The team recorded several personal bests during the competition:

- Finja Lorsbach – Women's 60-meter hurdle – 9.08 seconds
- Makayla Winters – Women's triple jump – 10.92 meters
- Adrian Przestrzelski – Men's triple jump – 14.45 meters
- Jadon Robertson – Men's pole vault (Heptathlon) – 4.01 meters
