City of Carbondale Local Liquor Control Commission and City Council met Dec. 10.

Commissioners present

Commissioner Clare Killman, Commissioner Adam Loos, Commissioner Nancy Maxwell, Commissioner Ginger Rye Sanders, Commissioner Jeff Doherty, Commissioner LaCaje Hill, and Chairperson Carolin Harvey

Meeting called to order at 6:06 PM

Action: 3.1 Local Liquor Control Commission Meeting Minutes from November 12, 2024

MOTION: Approve the minutes from the Local Liquor Control Commission meeting of November 12, 2024

Motion by LaCaje Hill, second by Clare Killman.

Final Resolution: Motion Carries

Yea: Clare Killman, Adam Loos, Nancy Maxwell, Ginger Rye Sanders, Jeff Doherty, LaCaje Hill, Carolin Harvey

Action: 3.2 Liquor License Renewals for Calendar Year 2025

Commissioners inquired whether taxes and late fees would be considered outstanding items; asked about the locations cited for underage sales violations during the State; and noted it is a disservice to allow individuals under 21 years of age in liquor establishments.

Henry Muhammad asked for clarification on comments relating to underage individuals in liquor establishments and requested the compilation of related statistics.

Crystal Kellum commented that children should not be held accountable, but the establishments should be. Ensure checking of IDs and proper marking of underage individuals.

Meghan Cole indicated that responsibility for underage consumption has dual responsibility.

MOTION: Approve the renewal of the liquor licenses, contingent upon receipt of all outstanding items.

Motion by Clare Killman, second by LaCaje Hill.
