State Senator Terri Bryant expressed approval of Vistra's decision to keep the Baldwin Power Plant operational until 2027. The plant was initially set to close by the end of 2025, but the extension provides relief to workers and local communities reliant on its operations.

Bryant stated, "I am thrilled by Vistra’s decision to extend the Baldwin Power Plant’s operations for two more years. This announcement brings much-needed relief to the hundreds of workers and families who depend on the plant for their livelihoods, as well as the local businesses and communities that benefit from its energy production."

She emphasized the importance of Baldwin's workforce and its contribution to Illinois' energy reliability. "This decision underscores the value of Baldwin’s workforce and the plant’s critical role in ensuring energy reliability for Illinois. For decades, the Baldwin Power Plant has delivered reliable energy and supported our community with good-paying jobs and economic stability," she said.

Bryant also mentioned her ongoing commitment to working with Vistra, local leaders, and stakeholders to advocate for policies that support energy reliability and economic growth in Southern Illinois.

The continued operation of Baldwin Power Plant through 2027 ensures it remains integral to both regional energy needs and economic stability.
