FOIA Request to City Of Grand Tower Regarding Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
The Carbondale Reporter, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, has sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Grand Tower. The request seeks information about all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, up until the present day.
Specifically, we are requesting data in the following fields: type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address of the property, and contractor's name. This request extends not only to newly issued permits but also to all active residential and commercial building permits and their current status.
As journalists at the Carbondale Reporter, we believe in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver as media professionals.
