Southern Illinois Women's Volleyball team faced a challenging match against Illinois State on Friday in Normal, resulting in a four-set loss. The Salukis started strong by winning the first set but were unable to maintain their momentum as Illinois State secured the next three sets.
Annabelle Sulish delivered an impressive performance with her third 20-kill match of the season and achieved her 11th double-double. Larissa Seger contributed significantly with six blocks, while Ema Stermenska provided 21 assists.
In the opening set, Southern Illinois made a comeback from a 20-17 deficit, scoring eight of the last ten points to secure the win, highlighted by a block from Seger. However, Illinois State dominated set two with a nine-point lead and concluded it at 25-19.
The final two sets were closely contested, but Illinois State managed to edge out Southern Illinois with scores of 25-23 and 25-22.
Looking ahead, the Salukis are scheduled to play against Bradley on Saturday in Peoria at 5 p.m.
