Southern Illinois volleyball prepares for final MVC road trip of regular season

Southern Illinois Women's Volleyball team is set to travel to Central Illinois for their final Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) road trip of the 2024 regular season. The Salukis will face Illinois State on Friday and Bradley on Saturday.

Illinois State holds a significant lead in their series history against Southern Illinois, with an 83-14 record, including a recent 3-1 victory in Carbondale. Conversely, Southern Illinois leads the all-time series against Bradley 49-27, although Bradley won their last meeting on October 4, 2024.

Several players from Southern Illinois have made notable achievements this season. Anna Jaworski has moved up to second place in school history with 3,626 assists. Larissa Seger ranks ninth in the MVC for hitting percentage at 29.5%, seventh in total blocks with 83, and ninth in blocks per set at 0.87. Annabelle Sulish is ranked ninth in The Valley for both total kills (284) and total points (319.5). Cecilia Bulmahn recorded seven aces during an October match against UIC, marking the highest number of aces in a three-set match within The Valley this season. She also ranks tenth in total aces (27), tenth in aces per set (0.31), and seventh in digs per set (3.98).

The Salukis have shown resilience with a 6-3 record in five-set matches and hold the MVC high for kills and attack percentage in such matches, achieving 78 kills, 78 assists, and an attack percentage of 30.4% against Indiana State on October 19.
