Southern Illinois Women's Volleyball faced a tough match against Drake on Saturday in Des Moines, resulting in a 3-0 loss. Despite their efforts, the Salukis were unable to overcome key runs by Drake during each set.
Annabelle Sulish led Southern Illinois with eight kills, while Kelly Franklin and Larissa Seger contributed three blocks each. The first set saw SIU holding a 14-13 lead before Drake went on a decisive 6-0 run to secure a 25-21 victory.
In the second set, Southern Illinois initially led 10-8 but was outscored 17-6 from that point onward, giving Drake a strong 2-0 match lead. The third set remained competitive, with the Salukis narrowing the gap to four points at 22-18. However, they could not close it further, allowing Drake to complete the sweep.
Drake's Megan Witte and Macy Daufeldt played pivotal roles in their team's success, combining for 26 kills, five service aces, 15 digs, and seven blocks.
The Salukis will next play at Davies Gym against Bradley on Friday, October 4.
