The Southern Illinois University women's soccer team (4-2-3) concluded their match against Illinois State with a 0-0 draw on Thursday in Carbondale, Ill.

"I think it was a real battle between both teams. A draw is probably a fair reflection," head coach Graeme Orr commented.

During the first half, the Salukis out-shot the Redbirds 6-1. Ashlyn Henrie had the only shot-on-goal in the 20th minute, which was saved by goalkeeper Madi Valenti.

In the second half, Illinois State matched Southern Illinois in shots with seven attempts. Sophia Schlicklin led her team with two shots during this period.

By the end of play, both teams were tied with eight shots each but neither managed to score.

Goalkeeper Fabiana Solano made her ninth start of the season and recorded two saves against Illinois State.

The Salukis will travel next Thursday to face Indiana State on September 26 at 4 p.m.
