Southern Illinois Men's Golf concluded its first tournament of the 2024-25 season with a third-place finish at the SIUE Derek Dolenc Invitational in Madison, Ill., on Tuesday.
The Salukis tied for third, shooting six under par, nine strokes behind tournament champion SIUE.
"The team played a lot of good golf," Head Coach Justin Fetcho said. "We just had too many stretches of undisciplined and uncommitted golf to come out on top this week."
Anthony De Schutter delivered a notable performance in his debut as a Saluki, tying for sixth while shooting five under par.
"Anthony came out and showed why we wanted him to be a part of our program," Fetcho said. "He played some good golf this summer and he carried it over to his first event of the season."
All five golfers contributing to the team score finished in the top 40.
Here is how the rest of the Salukis fared in their first tournament of the season:
Frank Bellino: T-18th (-2, 211)
Oliver Ulrich: T-29th (+2, 215)
Leon Heitz: T-29th (+2, 215)
Carsen Silliman: T-37th (+4, 217)
Jan Wdowka (Ind.): 94th (+23, 236)
The Salukis will next compete at their 2024 NCAA Regionals site for the Purdue Fall Invitational on Sunday, September 22, in West Lafayette, Ind.
