The Southern Illinois University women's soccer team is set to host Lindenwood on Sunday, Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. in Carbondale, Ill.
Southern Illinois enters Sunday's match with a record of 3-1-2 after defeating North Alabama, 3-1, on Thursday. Sophia Schlicklin leads the team in goals with four, followed by McKensey Bunch with two. Goalkeeper Fabiana Solano has recorded 19 saves this season and has allowed six goals. Solano and Lucy Horn lead the team in minutes played, both having played the full 540 minutes. Maycie Massingill recorded her first goal as a Saluki against North Alabama on Thursday.
Lindenwood is coming off a 3-2 victory over Austin Peay on Sunday. Mackenzie Compton leads the Lions with two goals this season. Lindenwood has scored a total of nine goals this season.
This will be the third meeting between the two programs. Lindenwood leads the series 1-0-1 after defeating the Salukis, 2-0, in 2022. The last matchup between the Salukis and the Lions ended in a 1-1 draw.
