The Southern Illinois University men's and women's cross-country teams have been selected to finish sixth and eighth, respectively, in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Cross-Country preseason coaches' poll.
The Saluki men's team garnered 72 points, positioning them sixth out of 11 teams. The Drake men's cross-country team emerged as the favorite with 15 points and seven first-place selections.
On the women's side, Southern Illinois received 89 points, placing them eighth among 12 teams. Bradley was chosen as the favorite with 18 points and six first-place selections.
The Salukis' cross-country season will commence in Cape Girardeau, Mo., at the SEMO Redhawks XC Invite on Friday, August 30, at 6:15 p.m. at the Osage Center.
