Unity Point Community Consolidated School District 140 Board met March 26.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The special meeting of the Unity Point Board of Education was called to order at 7:01 p.m. by the vice president, Elizabeth Mackenbach, with the following members present: Morteza Daneshdoost, Elizabeth Mackenbach, Courtney O’Dell, Brent Pease and Sylvia Thoms.

Morteza Daneshdoost made the motion, seconded by Sylvia Thoms to approve the Agenda as presented. Motion carried 5-0 with all voting yea.

Public Comments

Amanda Roberts asked the following questions:

1. What is the policy for disciplinary action for elementary students?

2. What is the administrative discipline process?

Donna Smith-Throgmorton – stated the teachers need support from the Board and Administration to do their work.

Sitashma Parajuli provided a presentation on Panorama; use of an additional climate survey.

Board discussed the potential for a 1-year contract to survey faculty and staff only, with survey dissemination in late May. A final decision will be made at the May Board meeting.

Morteza Daneshdoost made the motion, seconded by Brent Pease to adjourn the meeting at 8:30 p.m. Motion carried 5-0 with all voting yea.
